Bequests
Ursula Schorn and Richard Andersen are continually amazed at the beauty of the area where they live, and they have always appreciated the work it takes to keep it pristine. For them, POST was a natural fit for their estate plans because of its years of success in land conservation. Now, while hiking on the land they have helped protect, they can be assured that it will be there for generations to come.
When choosing an organization to put in their estate plans, Claudia Newbold and her late husband, Howard Schopman, looked both to the past and the future. “We so enjoyed the open space lands around us, and we knew we couldn’t enjoy them but for the generosity of others in the past,” says Claudia. Continuing that generosity by making a bequest to POST, Claudia and Howard will leave a legacy of open space for the future.
Life Income Gifts
Betty and Steve Salveter understand that open space lands are not only beautiful, but also good for you. After picking up hiking as a way to get himself healthy after a heart attack, Steve, joined by his wife Betty, came to love the open spaces around their home, reaffirming an already strong commitment to POST. One part of this commitment is their charitable remainder trust, set up with POST as a beneficiary. With this type of life income gift, Betty and Steve receive financial benefits while maintaining their longtime support of POST and its land-saving work.
Open Space Legacy Society
More than fifteen years ago, George Zimmerman decided to include POST in his estate plans. Since then, he has never stopped giving to POST, especially through his commitment as a volunteer and member of the Open Space Legacy Society. George’s involvement with POST goes above and beyond, serving as a constant inspiration to others who are also interested in leaving a legacy of natural open spaces.
