Join POST's Open Space Legacy Society

In 2006, POST created the Open Space Legacy Society to recognize the extraordinary commitment of people who include POST in their estate plans.

The generous, far-reaching support provided by members of the Society allows POST to pursue its mission to protect open space long into the future.

Members of the Society receive special invitations to events and outings, and are listed in our annual report edition of Landscapes. This special recognition acknowledges the long-term impact of their support, which builds a strong, solid foundation for POST's ongoing land conservation work.

George Zimmerman

George Zimmerman’s commitment to POST and its work runs deep. Not only a longtime supporter, George is a member of POST’s Skyline Committee and is POST’s volunteer leader for planned giving. His dedication is further strengthened by the lasting commitment he has made to the preservation of open space by placing POST in his estate plans.

“What I have to leave is a middle-class estate. It’s not huge,” says George, who adds that his planned gift will be his most significant contribution to POST. A retired assistant planning director for the City of Palo Alto, George included POST in his estate plans fifteen years ago and strongly encourages others to do the same.

George has lived in San Mateo for nearly 30 years, but is still struck by the beauty and magnificence of the Peninsula’s wild open spaces. “My gift to POST is my way of saying thank you to the Peninsula for the good life I’ve had here, and of leaving a legacy of open space for future generations,” he says. “I treasure the natural lands in our area, and I’d like to see even more of them protected. I’ve been so impressed by POST’s many achievements and want to make sure they have enough resources to continue doing their fine work.”
