Earth Day 2017 is almost here! Have you made plans to celebrate our planet and local open spaces? If you’re still looking for ideas, we put together this handy list of local activities that we think you would enjoy.

Earth Day Adventure with Midpen

Midpen is leading a 9.5-mile hike at Purisima Creek Redwoods Preserve. The docent-led hike will enrich your knowledge of the many redwood trees and plants found along the trail. You can register for the free event here.

Earth Day Litter Clean-Up with Santa Clara County Parks

Volunteer with Santa Clara County Parks to clean up Vasona Park. No special skills are required, and work gloves and pick-up sticks will be provided. Learn more here.

Earth Day Block Party with Committee for Green Foothills

The Committee for Green Foothills is partnering with the City of East Palo Alto and Youth United for Community Action for a block party celebration featuring live music and raffle prizes. Wildflower Walks with San Mateo County Parks

Join San Mateo County Parks in Edgewood Park for free docent-led wildflower walks. Edgewood’s serpentine grasslands are renowned throughout California for their lush wildflower carpets and rich biodiversity. Learn more here.

Park Prescription Day is a national celebration to promote the benefits of open spaces and nature to improve our health and wellness. Join the Nature Conservancy at Crissy Field for a free day of health and wellness activities.

Earth Day and Arbor Day Festival with City of Cupertino

This free event held at the Cupertino Civic Center invites you and your family to join the community and learn about making sustainable choices.

Earth Day 2017 Santa Cruz

This free event at San Lorenzo Park is chock full of cool activities, including live music, arts & crafts, a compost lecture and more! Learn about the annual event here.

Wavecrest Workday with Coastside Land Trust

Join the Coastside Land Trust for a habitat restoration workday at Wavecrest. Volunteers will work removing invasive plants around the coastal trail, picking up trash and removing graffiti. Wear layers, sturdy shoes and sun protection. Learn more here.
