On this 5-mile excursion, you’ll hike from the Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve to the top of the POST-protected Mindego Hill and back. Enjoy the beginning of the sunset with views up and down the Santa Cruz Mountains from one of the most prominent peaks in the range!
This hike is somewhat strenuous, so be prepared for a workout! Athletic wear and sturdy shoes are recommended! We’ll have a snack at the top of Mindego Hill, and be back to the cars by 5:00 pm.
Protected by POST and recently opened to the public by the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, Mindego Hill is an excellent example of how POST works with various partners to protect some of the most threatened lands in our area. You’ll hear more about how we protected this beautiful property and have the opportunity to chat with several POST representatives.
Please register as space is limited! We will share meetup location/parking lot directions closer to the date of the event.
This event is part of POST’s community event series. These events are open to the general public as well as POST donors, and we hope you will join us! We also curate a separate series of private events for our donor community. Learn more about how you can support POST here: openspacetrust.org/support
Mindego Hill offers panoramic vistas of protected redwood ridges and undulating hillsides, including Mindego Hill, now part of the Russian Ridge preserve, protected by POST in 2007.
With generous support from our donors and in partnership with Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, POST funded the creation of this new addition to Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve so future generations can continue to enjoy breathtaking coastal views from this dramatic lookout point.
The Mindego Hill portion of Russian Ridge was opened to the public on March 30, 2016.
Peninsula Open Space Trust protects and cares for open space, farms and parkland in and around Silicon Valley. Since 1977, POST has protected over 75,500 acres in San Mateo, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz Counties.
