Protecting farmland has always been part of the mission at Peninsula Open Space Trust, and POST’s partnership with Pie Ranch, an educational farm in Pescadero, is a perfect example of that work. Pie Ranch’s mission is to cultivate a healthy and just food system from seed to table through food education, farmer training, and regional partnerships.

Join us to hear the story of Pie Ranch and what’s new for the nonprofit from Leonard Diggs, Director of Operations. Leonard will describe Pie Ranch’s goals and programs, particularly their new farm incubator working to advance farm business ownership specifically for Indigenous people, people-of-color, and others who have been historically marginalized from equity-building pathways in agriculture. We’ll also discuss Pie Ranch’s current and future work, as well as the road ahead in recovering from the aftermath of the lightning fires that significantly affected Pie Ranch and the surrounding area.

Registrants will receive an access link prior to the event.

Discover Pie Ranch

During normal operating times, Pie Ranch offers food education, farmer apprenticeships, work days and barn dances. The Pie Ranch farm stand is a popular stop for anyone spending a day on the coast with seasonal offerings such as produce and pies, heirloom grain, wheat flour and other local goods. Check the Pie Ranch website for public hours and support them now with a wildfire assistance donation.
