Peninsula Open Space Trust Appoints Anne Holmes as Vice President of Development

Palo Alto, Calif. – July 17, 2025 — Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) announced today that POST development lead Anne Holmes has been promoted to vice president of development for the conservation nonprofit following a regional search. In this leadership role, Holmes will oversee organization-wide fundraising efforts vital to POST’s strategic initiatives, vision and mission to protect open space on the Peninsula and in the South Bay for the benefit of all.

Holmes is a seasoned fundraiser with decades of experience in leadership, principal gift, corporate, foundation, government and individual fundraising. From her start with the Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York in 1990 to today, her experience spans the arts and environmental sectors. She joined POST as senior manager of major gifts in 2018. As vice president of development, Holmes oversees all capital and annual fundraising, including individual, institutional and planned giving for POST.

Raised in Lexington, KY, Holmes was inspired by her passion for the performing arts when she launched her career in fundraising. This passion led her to the west coast, where she worked for more than a decade in development leadership roles for TheatreWorks Silicon Valley, Oregon Shakespeare Festival and other California arts organizations.

“When I came to POST in 2018, I felt the same sense of connection to its environmental work as I did to theatre, and I was impressed by POST’s success and fundraising sophistication,” said Holmes. “It feels terrific to be doing this work in these challenging times for the environment, and I am honored to lead POST’s development staff toward future success. I stand on the shoulders of the many talented, dedicated conservation professionals who have come before me. As a longtime Peninsula resident and parent, I find it gratifying to be part of POST’s long-term impact on our region. I know that my daughter’s generation and those that follow will reap the benefits of our work to protect and steward land today.”

Holmes succeeds Gordon Clark, who became POST’s president in January 2025. Most recently, she served as POST’s interim vice president of development and as director of donor engagement.

Holmes received a Bachelor of Arts in music from Miami University (Oxford, OH) and attended the chef training program at the Institute of Food and Health in New York. She lives in Menlo Park, CA, and is the parent of a college-age daughter studying musical theatre in New York City.
