Join Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) for a moderate 4.6 hike along the North Ridge Trail of Purisima Creek Redwoods. You will be guided by a POST representative, who will share the areas natural history with you.
If you are a plant and tree lover, this is the hike for you. With gorgeous maples and Douglas firs aplenty, there will be several chances for some great pictures. Since this hike is in October, the trail should be speckled with the warm, bright colors of autumn.
Since 1985, POST has been working to protect Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve, now managed by Midpen. Through seven separate land transactions, this preserve now encompasses 4,711 acres.
This event is part of POST’s community event series. These events are open to the general public and POST donors alike, and we hope you will join us! We also curate a separate series of private events for our donor community. Find out more about how you can support POST here:openspacetrust.org/support.
POST protected Purisima Creek as part of our Saving the Endangered Coast Campaign back in 2005, established with a gift of $2 million from Save the Redwoods League. The Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve is located on the western slopes of the Santa Cruz Mountains overlooking Half Moon Bay. This open space features amazing views of the coast and Half Moon Bay, visible from the northern part of the preserve.
Peninsula Open Space Trust protects and cares for open space, farms and parkland in and around Silicon Valley. Since 1977, POST has protected over 75,500 acres in San Mateo, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz Counties.
This event is co-sponsored by our friends at Save The Redwoods League who are hosting Free Second Saturday’s at Redwood State Parks events in honor of their centennial celebration. Check out their website for more details. Happy Birthday, Save the Redwoods League!
