Media Advisory: San Gregorio Ranch Beach Access to Close Temporarily for Maintenance and Safety Improvements Beginning April 1, 2026
WHAT: The privately owned San Gregorio Ranch property will be temporarily closed to public beach access for maintenance and safety improvements. The closure begins April 1, 2026, and is anticipated to last up to 12 weeks.
Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) is finalizing preparations to acquire San Gregorio Ranch from the current owner for long-term environmental conservation and secure public access, as announced last year. Prior to completing that transaction, necessary maintenance and safety improvements to the property must be completed to support future safe public access.
During this temporary closure, all public beach access via San Gregorio Ranch will be suspended, subject to CDP waiver 2-26-0139-W. Public access to the adjacent San Gregorio State Beach is not affected.
WHERE: San Gregorio Ranch, located just north of San Gregorio State Beach Park at the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 84 (10 miles south of Half Moon Bay)
WHEN: Beginning Wednesday, April 1, 2026, for up to 12 weeks
