Become a POST Volunteer
POST offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities with varying activity levels and time commitments. Volunteer opportunities include:
- Monitoring properties with conservation easements to ensure land and resource restrictions are met. Easement volunteers visit over 30 properties annually, where they hike, take photos, document changes to the land and complete written reports for our stewardship department.
- Participating in project workdays removing invasive species such as jubata grass and French broom, clearing roads, installing erosion control and participating in native planting projects.
- Monitoring POST-owned properties to identify problems such as trespass, vandalism and dumping, as well as natural impacts like storm damage or landslides to ensure we are providing a high level of stewardship on the land.
- POST Ambassadors – POST Ambassadors help increase awareness of our work in the community through sharing online and helping with POST community events. Read more.
Volunteer Qualifications
- Attend an orientation and training events.
- Detail oriented with good record-keeping skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a variety of people.
- Willingness to travel to protected properties and/or community events.
- At least 18 years old.
- Some teams require a higher level of physical ability as the work can be strenuous

Volunteers often visit, hike and care for properties that are not open to the general public or play an important role as POST Ambassadors – helping people understand the importance of our work, our goals and the challenges facing land conservation in our area.
