I’ve spent most of my life focused on engaging youth with the natural world. And I have helped connect my grandchildren to nature through trips to the best outdoor classrooms I know, POST-protected properties.
A trip with them to Bolsa Point has always been a favorite. Watching them explore the tide pools with eyes full of wonder and observing their connection with the small mysteries of nature.
That day represents a very special moment in my life.
It’s so important to have these extraordinary places where children can disconnect from technology to find the deepest part of themselves, test their boundaries and develop a lifelong affinity for the outdoors.
But these special places need champions, they need people like you to stand up to protect them. Especially now.
Today we have a real opportunity to shape what that world will look like, for decades to come. That’s why my husband, Chuck, and I have dedicated part of our estate to POST. It’s a reflection of how much we value the role of open spaces in all our lives.
It’s one of the most satisfying things we’ve ever done.
As POST celebrates its 40th anniversary, their work is more important than ever. They need your support to steward our open spaces and ensure the future health of our environment. Now is the time to make the investment that will define these local landscapes for future generations.
That’s why I’m writing this today, to invite you to learn more about the work of this organization and to consider joining us in defining the future of the region.
Together, we can help this great organization plan for its next 40 years to ensure they have the resources they need to continue their critical work to shape the future of our region.
Your simple gift of any size will continue the legacy of open space we are so fortunate to have here on the Peninsula and in the South Bay. You can learn more here or contact Jeanine Crider (jcrider-at-openspacetrust.org) to discuss different options that may work for you.
If you have already included a gift for POST in your trust or other plans, thank you! Please tell Jeanine (see above) so that she has the opportunity to thank you.
Christy Holloway is one of Peninsula Open Space Trust’s earliest board members. She has dedicated much of her life to the protection of our open spaces.
Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) protects and cares for open space, farms and parkland in and around Silicon Valley. Since its founding in 1977, POST has been responsible for saving more than 75,000 acres as permanently protected land in San Mateo, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties.
